In spring, budding leaves emerge between the cherry blossoms to fill the branches with green. The SBGH376 portrays this moment with a warm green dial and a 38mm case rendered in 18k yellow gold. Powered by the Calibre 9S85, a self-winding mechanical movement running at 36,000 vph, it is the first non-limited creation of the 62GS to be crafted in yellow gold.

The 62GS was Grand Seiko’s first self-winding watch when it appeared in 1967 with a case design devised to fit the engineering within. Its bezel-free structure reduced the visual height, allowing light to reach the dial from multiple angles. In the years since its 1967 debut, the 62GS has come to be regarded as a Grand Seiko classic, recognised for its flowing lines, broad case sides, and wide-open view of the dial created by the absence of any bezel.

Naturally, this puts the SBGH376 dial on full display. It features a light-green pattern that changes according to the angle and amount of light, and the framed date window at 3 o’clock harmonises with the aesthetics of the hands and markers. The gold case and the green dial form a subtle and beautiful pairing while retaining excellent legibility.

The Calibre 9S85 is notable for the high precision achieved by its 36,000 vph frequency, which makes the automatic movement more stable and less prone to external factors such as shock and positional changes. The movement is rated to +5 to -3 seconds per day with a power reserve of 55 hours. It can be viewed through the see-through screwed case back, which helps the watch achieve 10 bars of water resistance. With its medium size, excellent reliability, and high functionality packaged within a precious-metal case, the SBGH376 shows that beauty and performance can absolutely go hand in hand.

The SBGH376 Cherry Blossoms “Sakura Wakaba” will be available at Grand Seiko Boutiques and select retailers worldwide starting in July.
